Program Overview
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Pre-Allied and Technical Health provides students a streamlined pathway that incorporates required prerequisite coursework for a subsequent associate’s or bachelor’s degree-granting healthcare professional program. The degree conserves the liberal arts through a tailored curriculum that will prepare students in the natural and social sciences, communication, and a variety of multidisciplinary elective areas to adequately prepare them for a career in an allied or technical health profession.

How This Degree May Affect Future Financial Aid Doane University’s 90-credit Bachelor of Applied Science in Pre-Allied and Technical Health is a bachelor’s degree. Completing this program may affect the financial aid available to you if you later pursue another degree.
If you plan to pursue another degree after this program:
- Federal Pell Grant:
If you complete this degree and later enroll in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, you will be pursuing a second bachelor’s degree. You would no longer qualify for the Federal Pell Grant for that nursing degree, even if you have unused Pell eligibility remaining. - Nebraska Opportunity Grant:
Earning this degree also makes you ineligible for the Nebraska Opportunity Grant. - Other grants and scholarships:
Other state grants and institutional scholarships may have restrictions for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree. - Federal student loans:
You may still qualify for federal student loans and other forms of financial assistance, depending on the next program’s eligibility requirements, your enrollment, and your remaining loan eligibility. Completing another degree does not reset your federal borrowing limits.

Important: Limited Pell Grant exceptions exist for certain teacher certification and eligible workforce programs. These exceptions do not apply to a second bachelor’s degree in nursing.
