Doane University has demonstrated its commitment to supporting veterans and military-affiliated students by earning Gold Status as a 2025–2026 Military Friendly School. The designation, awarded by MilitaryFriendly.org, highlights colleges and universities that go above and beyond in creating welcoming, supportive and resource-rich environments for military students and their families.

This year, Doane was recognized in the Private Schools Offering Doctorate category and was also named a Military Spouse Friendly School, reflecting its inclusive efforts to support not just student veterans, but also the spouses and families who serve alongside them.

“Doane’s Gold Status reflects its genuine commitment to supporting those who serve and partnering with the Department of Defense to protect our nation,” said Daniel J. Dibbern, director of Veteran and Military Services. “In a time when academia and the federal government often clash, Doane stands out by focusing on what truly matters—supporting military-affiliated students and developing future leaders dedicated to service.”

The Gold Status places Doane among the top-performing schools nationwide in providing robust programs and services for military students. These include flexible degree programs, transfer credit evaluations for military experience, and a campus culture that values leadership, discipline, and service.

Military Friendly Schools are determined through a rigorous evaluation process that includes public data analysis and a survey completed by participating institutions. The methodology takes into account graduation and retention rates, student support, job placement after graduation, and financial assistance—all critical components for student success.

Doane’s continued recognition reaffirms its dedication to empowering military-affiliated learners. Doane values all kinds of students, whether it’s through academic advising tailored to veterans, career support, or fostering a strong community, Doane remains committed to ensuring military students and their families feel valued, connected, and equipped for their next chapter.
