On August 23, 25 students became members of Chi Sigma Iota (CSI), the international honor society for counseling students and counselors. Doane’s chapter, Chi Delta Upsilon, joins the 450+ active chapters around the world with 170,000+ active members.

Members gain access to mentorships, grants, research opportunities and continuing education credits.

Associate professors Arden Szepe and Courtney East serve as the faculty advisors, who say the addition of a CSI chapter on campus provides invaluable leadership and professional development for students in the Master of Arts in Counseling program.

“For the students who truly have an interest in building those leadership skills and stretching themselves, then they have such a unique opportunity to do that,” East said.

The new members were initiated at a ceremony in Lincoln on August 24. The outgoing leadership team, who helped establish the chapter, was initiated in June 2025.
