What is your name and title?
Dr. Judy Kawamoto, Vice President for Student Affairs

How long have you worked at Doane? What attracted you to work here?
Almost one year, I started at Doane in March 2022. I came to Doane because I was impressed by the students, faculty and staff I met during my interview and also because I was inspired by President Hughes and the vision of the entire leadership team.

What do you consider the best part of your Doane experience?
The students. It's always about the students for me. I've spent my entire career working with them to create programs, experiences and services to make their college experience the best it can be.

What is something you're proud of accomplishing or achieving while at Doane?
I'm really proud of my team. We recently changed our division name to Student Affairs to best reflect national trends and the work we do, and also created some new positions to better serve student needs. I'm incredibly proud of each of them, they're dedicated professionals who care deeply about our students and the work they do. And they're always striving to do even more!

What's some advice you would give to current students? Or, what is some advice you've received that you value?
Don't graduate from Doane wishing that you had accomplished more. We're all here to help you achieve your dreams. Get to know the faculty and staff, we're here to help you take advantage of every opportunity.

What's something you like about yourself that others may not know?
I love food, especially chocolate!! I once had a pretty lucrative "side hustle" making desserts for special occasions.
