What is your major or degree program?
Master of Arts in Leadership. Also graduated from Doane in 2019 in Elementary & Special Education, and again in 2021 with a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction.
What do you hope to do after completing your degree?
I look forward to continuing to grow as a leader within my community. I feel empowered to use the knowledge gained from Doane to support a variety of efforts in education.
How is Doane preparing you to reach your goals?
Doane has provided me with connections, unlocked networks and given me the know how in reaching such goals. Now, more than ever, education needs strong educators and leaders and Doane has prepared me to be such an individual.
Who has been a major influence for you during your education at Doane? How have they helped you?
There have been countless professors, instructors and colleagues that have helped influence my journey at Doane. I believe Dr. Denee Wehrs instilled a confidence in me back in 2019 when I was getting my undergrad degree. This lit a passion for education and to always challenge to be better than the day before. I also have to give a shoutout to everyone in Cadre 48 aka the best Cadre to come out of Doane!
What is something you're proud of accomplishing or achieving while at Doane?
The connections, friendships and sense of purpose.
What advice would you give to an incoming student?
Go in with an open mind and trust the process.
What's something you like about yourself that other people may not know?
I am the first in my family to not only attend a 4-year university but to continue my education to the graduate level.
What is something you've really enjoyed about your time at Doane?
You are a person not a number. Your instructors are just a call, email or text away.
