Doane University and Nebraska Methodist College (NMC) hosted a public signing ceremony on Oct. 30, 2025 at NMC in Omaha to celebrate a new partnership that expands nursing education opportunities for Nebraska students.

The agreement establishes an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) pathway that allows Doane students to complete a bachelor’s degree in science and then transition seamlessly into NMC’s nationally recognized accelerated nursing program. The initiative, launching in fall 2026, is designed to address the region’s growing demand for skilled nurses by providing students with a faster, more flexible route into the healthcare workforce.

"We’re excited to offer a clear advising pathway and exclusive information with a guarantee that our students have a place at NMC if they meet all of the requirements,” said Rebecca Sprouse, Doane’s director of pre-health programs. “I believe that NMC is an ideal partner because of their focus on fostering a deeper understanding of the world around them through empathy, ethics and exposure to diversity, much like we do with the liberal arts here at Doane.”

NMC understands the vital need for nurses in Nebraska and looks forward to the opportunity to grow moreSigning certificate healthcare professionals within the state.

“Nebraska continues to experience a significant nursing shortage, and innovative education models like this pathway are essential to ensuring patients receive the care they deserve,” said Dr. Deb Carlson, president and CEO of Nebraska Methodist College. “We’re proud to partner with Doane University on an accelerated pathway that benefits students and strengthens the health care workforce across our state.”

Together, Doane and NMC are helping students turn their passion for caring for others into meaningful, lifelong careers in nursing.
