Doane University’s health center just got a major makeover, and it’s all about making student wellness easier and more accessible. With a full-time medical provider, Jody Yank, APRN, now on campus, students can get the care they need faster than ever. “Students can now receive faster access to care, be assessed, and have medications prescribed if necessary. This allows them to return to their academics and activities more quickly,” says Andreea Baker, Director of Health and Wellness.
The updated health center now offers even more services, like lab testing, mental health support, and travel health consultations for those globe-trotting Tigers. Need a sports physical? You can now get it done on campus with same-day appointments.
The renovation didn’t just bring new services—it also added a second exam room and a new waiting area, meaning more students can be seen, often on the same day. With extended hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, it’s easier than ever to swing by between classes or after practice.
Doane’s health center also takes a big-picture approach to wellness, working closely with the counseling office and offering helpful resources like the Tiger Paw Pantry and other essentials. “When a student's basic needs are addressed, they’re more likely to succeed academically,” Baker notes.
With the updated space and growing services, Doane’s health center is a one-stop shop for students’ health and wellness needs.
