Social Emotional Learning Specialization
College of Education
The Social Emotional Learning Specialist will be a knowledgeable practitioner in the neuroscience and process, through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show compassion and empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships and make responsible decisions. Being skilled in empowering students with social and emotional learning competencies will bring clarity to learning.Â
This program is designed for those currently certified to teach but is open to counselors, administrators and anyone working in the education field. Candidates must have a Bacehlor's degree with a minimum of 3.0 GPA.
Please note:
- This specialization does not qualify for an endorsement with the NDE or Iowa Department of Education.
- Students have the option of taking this specialization with our Curriculum and Instruction Degree, or as a Non-Degree seeking student.Â
