Accounting
College of Business
The Bachelor of Arts in Accounting major is designed to provide students with educational opportunities to develop a solid foundation in accounting and financial practices and to provide additional coursework required for persons who wish to take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.
Accountants are responsible for an organization's financial records. Most accountants work in specialized areas with duties that vary based on the type or organization or industry they are employed in. They may be charged with general accounting tasks such as maintaining and examining financial statements, performing budget work to help organizations run more efficiently, maintain financial systems, handling accounts payable and receivable, and preparing tax returns.
Employment of accountants and auditors is projected to grow 10% from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. In general, employment growth of accountants and auditors is expected to be closely tied to the health of the overall economy. Globalization, a growing economy, and a complex tax and regulatory environment are expected to continue to lead to strong demand for accountants and auditors.
Course availability will vary based on campus location.

The Doane Difference

Flexible Scheduling
Classes are offered to fit an adult learner’s needs! Courses are typically offered in 8-week terms to provide flexibility and to help make an adult student’s already full schedule more manageable and attainable. Online classes are completed fully online while on-campus evening courses meet once per week for each course.

Earn Life Credit
Undergraduate students have the opportunity to document their prior learning from work/life experiences through a portfolio option. This gives students the ability to showcase their experiences by connecting their work/life experiences to the outcomes of formal education and curriculum. Portfolios are assessed and evaluated to allow as many as 30 credits to be earned and applied toward a degree program.

Affordable Education
We offer flexible payment options to help our students finance their education! These options include Financial Aid, Tuition Reimbursement, Monthly Payment Plans, Veterans Benefits, and Scholarships. We understand navigating these options can be overwhelming so we have support staff to guide our students through the option best suited for them.
They go out of their way to make sure you have what you need. I just wish I had known about it a long time ago.

I would not be where I am today without Doane in Grand Island. It opened doors. The experience was phenomenal. I’d do it again.
