Understanding Student Billing
Students receive an electronic bill (eBill) from Nelnet Campus Commerce to their Doane account and the email address they list on their dual credit application. These start on the 1st of the month following their start date.

What is dual credit?
Dual credit allows eligible high school students to earn both high school and college credit by successfully completing approved college-level coursework.
Who is eligible to enroll in Doane Dual Credit?
Students must be:
- A sophomore, junior, or senior in high school
- Enrolled in a Nebraska high school or homeschooled in Nebraska with appropriate documentation
- Academically prepared for college-level coursework
Some courses may have additional prerequisites.
Is there a GPA requirement?
No. Doane does not require a minimum GPA for dual credit enrollment.
However, students should be prepared for the expectations of college-level coursework.
How much does dual credit cost?
Dual credit tuition is currently $75 per credit hour.
Textbook costs vary by course, though many courses have low or no textbook fees. Doane does accept ACE scholarships; students who are eligible for free or reduced lunch are eligible to apply for the Access College Early Scholarship (ACE) to cover the cost of tuition for dual-credit classes at https://ccpe.nebraska.gov/ACE.
What is the difference between dual credit and AP?
Dual credit awards college credit through successful completion of coursework.
AP typically requires students to earn a qualifying score on a standardized exam to receive college credit.
I don’t know where I’m attending college yet. Will my credits still count if I don’t go to Doane University?
While we’d love to have you become an official Tiger, we understand your calling might be at a different college.
All credits you earn in the Dual-Credit Program will apply to a bachelor’s degree at Doane University, but are also transferable to other four-year institutions.
Because Doane is an institutionally accredited university through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), it ensures credits can transfer to other colleges and universities across the nation.
It’s the student's responsibility to understand how the receiving institution will accept and apply your credits. Universities may request a course syllabus for review, which can be acquired by contacting the dual-credit office. Visit our transfer page to learn more.
Will this appear on my college transcript?
Yes, any course you take through Doane University’s dual-credit program will be listed on your college transcript indicating the final grade received. You can request your college transcript be sent to other universities or colleges you plan to apply to or transfer credits by contacting Doane’s Registrar.
Will dual-credit grades impact my high school GPA?
Your high school will determine how dual-credit courses are reported on your high school transcript, if they are weighted, and if they will impact your overall GPA. You will want to contact your high school registrar or counselor to confirm how these courses will be reported.
How will dual-credit grades impact my college GPA?
Any dual-credit course completed at Doane University will be calculated into your overall GPA. If you are admitted to Doane, your dual-credit classes apply toward your college GPA. Please note that if you perform poorly in your dual-credit classes, it may impact your financial aid package and ability to be accepted into a desired major/degree.

Can I drop/withdraw from a course?
Drops and withdrawals may be possible depending on timing and academic calendar deadlines.
Students should contact their instructor, counselor, or the Dual Credit office as soon as possible.
Can I view/pay/discuss my student’s bill with Doane
Yes. Have your student complete the following instructions to add you as an Authorized Party:
Go to www.doane.edu/self-service, log in with your Doane credentials (typically first name.lastname and the password you use for Doane email). Once logged in, select “Student Finance”, then select “Add an Authorized Party”. Log in with your Doane credentials. If this is your first time logging into the payment system, you will need to create an account. Once logged in, select “Add an Authorized Party” and follow the instructions. An email will be sent to the Authorized Party’s email address from Nelnet Campus Commerce to finish the process (check your Spam if you don’t see it).
Can we use federal financial aid to pay for Dual-Credit Program courses?
No, federal financial aid is not available for Dual-Credit Program students.
Can we use a 529 Plan for courses?
Yes, please refer to the plan provider’s distribution rules and regulations.
Are scholarships available?
Doane University is a participant in the Access College Early (ACE) Scholarship. The Access College Early (ACE) Scholarship Program Act pays tuition and mandatory fees for qualified, low-income high school students to enroll in college courses from Nebraska's colleges or universities, either through dual-enrollment or early enrollment agreements with these institutions. The scholarship does not cover any required textbooks.
