Financing Your Education

Education is one of the most important, and possibly the first, big investment of your life. Spend some time researching scholarships as they can be a big factor in financing your years at college.

Teacher Education Assistance for College Higher Education Grant (TEACH) Maximum Award: Undergraduate $16,000; Graduate $8,000

Available to students who: 1) have the intent to be certified and teach (or are teaching) in a high-need field;  2) agree to teach a minimum of 4 years (within 8 years of completing your degree) a

Apply for the FAFSA, then complete TEACH Grant Counseling and Agreement to Serve (ATS)

2 full-time semesters or 4 full-time terms per academic year

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) Maximum Award $2,500

Awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s degree and demonstrate exceptional financial need (Pell Grant eligible). Funding is limited.

Apply for the FAFSA.  

2 full-time semesters or 4 full-time terms per academic year

Thermo Scientific Pierce Scholarship $5,000 / $10,000

To qualify for the scholarship, students must have a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and be enrolled in an accredited college for university for the Fall 2014 semester.

Students may apply for the scholarship through the Thermo Scientific Pierce Scholarship Website.

 

Republican Women Leadership Circle Scholarship

Female undergraduates (sophomore through senior standing) or females pursuing a Masters degree that can be applied to a political field.

Submit a one page resume containing the following information: Republican Party/political involvement, community/charitable activities, positions of leadership, honors and awards, references.

 

Federal Direct Subsidized & Unsubsidized Stafford Loans Determined by FAFSA and grade level.

Subsidized Stafford loans are available to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled at least half-time.

American Association of School Personnel Administrators

Applicant must reside in these states/provinces or be currently matriculating at a college or university within these states/provinces: Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Okl

Application materials will be posted on the AASPA website on February 1, 2013 and must be submitted electronically to AASPA by April 12, 2013.

Board For Women's Ministries

Applicant must be a non-traditional (not directly out of high school) female student.
Applicant must plan to attend a Nebraska educational institution.

Alpha Iota Chapter - Alpha Delta Kappa

The scholarship be awarded to an undergraduate student from Southwest Nebraska who has completed the sophomore year in college in the field of education.

Oregon Trail Community Foundation

Applicants must be a Junior or Senior who is a previous graduate of Scottsbluff Senior High School and is pursuing studies in education or teaching. 

Douglas Sarpy County Family Community Education Scholarship

Applicants must be a resident of Douglas or Sarpy county that has completed at least one year of college by June 2014.  Graduate level is acceptable.
