Volunteer Spotlight - Mary Olsen Steiner '80
Doane is a special place for me.
My family shared many memories about the school while I was growing up. However, it was my own personal connection with lifelong friends, dedicated professors and meaningful organizations that encouraged me to keep volunteering. I am a member of the Doane Alumni Council and enjoy alumni programs that help develop students. I encourage you to join me in writing postcards through the Postcard Project to inspire prospective students! Another great opportunity is to share your expertise with our College to Career Center. We’re looking for career success stories, panel discussions and professional development assistance.
The Alumni Council opened my eyes to the excellent alumni benefits Doane offers. Last fall, through the Doane/AHI Travel program, Judy Steinkuhler Mulkey ’80 and I took a memorable trip to Tuscany, Italy. AHI Travel is the best! The scenery was great, but my favorite part was encountering the life, people, history, art, architecture, food, wine and culture of the region. The package was a tremendous value, and we didn’t have to worry about additional on-site charges. I will never forget the fascinating crystal factory we visited that supplies the majority of crystal throughout Italy and a good portion of the world.
Tuscany was quite the site to see! Don’t miss Doane Alumni’s next trip—a journey through Cuba Nov. 20-28, 2016—this fall.
The volunteer support of countless alumni and friends helps Doane continue to thrive. If you are interested in volunteering with the Alumni Council, please visit doane.edu/alumni-council or contact the Alumni Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 402.826.6795.
