Job Description: 

Doane College, a nationally recognized liberal arts and sciences college in Crete, Nebraska seeks an innovative and strategic leader for the position of Vice President for Access, Equity and Diversity (VPAED).  The College recognizes that access, equity and diversity are educational, economic, and civic imperatives and that diversity is essential to achieving academic excellence.  The ideal candidate will be a visionary and transformative thought leader, who has demonstrated experience and influence in achieving positive change in an academic setting in the areas of access, equity, diversity, inclusion, multiculturalism, community, economic development and educational and employment equity.

The VPAED serves on the President’s Cabinet and works in close collaboration with senior academic and administrative leadership. The VPAED leads the development and implementation of the College’s Diversity Plan, collaborates with departments college-wide to identify opportunities and barriers to the College’s efforts to recruit and retain a diverse community of successful students, faculty and staff and leads and supports diversity-building programs across campuses.  The VPAED represents the College and its diversity programs to external audiences and collaborates with academic and administrative leaders to develop external community partnerships including global connections that serve institutional diversity goals. 

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an excellent track record in managing change along with proven experience as an organizational leader and program builder, particularly around initiatives that promote diversity, equity, access and inclusion in a higher education environment or other major organization.  They will have the ability to facilitate connections and build partnerships and collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.  The candidate must be a collaborative leader with strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.  Knowledge of higher education compliance regulations, particularly Title VI, Title IX and Section 504 desired.  Advanced degree required, earned doctorate or terminal degree preferred.
