Lisa Utterback
Master of Education
As a direct result of Doane University, I'm able to make a difference in the lives of people each and every day.
Growing up in extreme poverty, Lisa Utterback endured a very difficult childhood. She has never met her father and her mother struggled with drug addiction her entire life.
Â
Lisa formed a strong relationship with her neighbor, Fred, who became a mentor and father figure to her. Fred encouraged Lisa to never give up and to pursue a college education, knowing that could pave the way for her to a better life.
Â
Lisa took Fred’s word to heart, enrolling at Doane University and earning her master’s of education degree. She currently serves as the executive director at Omaha Public Schools, making a difference in the lives of children, giving back to the community in a similar way Fred impacted her life.
