Dr. Monaghan received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 2010 and his B.A. from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2003.  While most of his publications fall in the areas of metaphysics and ancient philosophy, he enjoys teaching in a variety of areas of philosophy, including ethics, logic, and the philosophy of religion.  He has recently published a book entitled Property Possession as Identity: An Essay in Metaphysics, and is currently working on a book regarding the question of why there is something rather than nothing. 

When not teaching or doing philosophy, he enjoys spending time with his cats, Hank and Carla, and watching NHL hockey games on television. His favorite team is the Calgary Flames
