York Pitching Shuts Door on Tigers

Doane dropped a doubleheader to York College in non-conference play on Saturday with the Panthers winning 4-0 and 3-1.

Game One (L 0-4)
Doane was held to one hit in the first game, a first inning single by Ethan Schroeder. Doane did draw three walks in the game but were unable to do anything else against starter Josh Trejo. Trejo also posted 14 strikeouts in the game.

Rolando Celis took the loss for the Tigers, allowing four runs, one earned, in five innings of work. Doane committed three errors in the game, two from Celis. Brian Polfer threw one scoreless inning and Zach Klene threw one perfect inning.

Game Two (L 1-3)
The Tiger bats were held in check once again in game two, picking up four hits. Mike Albert had two of the Tiger hits off of Bruce Amende. Amende struck out nine batters for the Panthers.

Nick Dawson took the loss for the Tigers, allowing three runs, one earned, in 4.1 innings. Jake Bartek threw 1.1 scoreless innings and Elliot Engle also threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

Doane's lone run came in the fourth. AJ Spanel drew a one-out walk and moved up to second on an Albert single. With two down in the inning, Anthony Dunn singled to left-center to plate Spanel.

York came back with three runs in the top of the fifth on three hits and two Doane errors.
