Vanguard Sweeps Doane

Errors plagued the Tigers as they closed out their Spring Break trip. Doane fell to Vanguard University in a pair of games, 5-1 and 8-0. The losses dropped the Tigers to 1-11 on the season as they enter conference play on March 23.

Game One (L 1-5)
Andrea Gonzales led the game off with a triple for the Tigers and came around to score on a single by Christy Kobza. Unfortunately for Doane, that would be the only run they would score as Vanguard came back with five runs, one earned, on five hits and four Doane errors.

The Lions tied the game in the bottom of the first on a RBI groundout by Stephanie Leisenring. In the third, Vanguard took advantage of a two-out error and plated two runs. An error to lead off the fifth led to a pair of unearned runs.

Jenna Alswager took the loss for the Tigers, throwing five innings. She allowed five runs, one earned, on five hits and a walk. Jennifer Liddell threw the final inning, striking out one.
