USF Tabbed the Favorite, Doane 8th
The Doane Tiger football team will enter the 2009 season projected as the eighth best team in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) according to conference coaches. The Tigers, coming off a 4-7 record overall and 3-7 mark in the GPAC, will open their season against Avila University in the First Down Classic in Platte City, Mo.
The Tigers are looking to improve offensively where they return nine starters from a year ago. The defense will have a few holes to fill from key contributors but the secondary should be a strength with three of the four starters from a year ago returning.
Below is the 2009 preseason coach's poll.
