Turnovers Plague Doane in Loss

Turnovers were once again a problem for the Tiger football team on Saturday afternoon, committing five, as they fell 34-10 to GPAC foe Hastings College.

Hastings (2-0, 1-0 GPAC) also dominated time of possession, 35:13-24:47, as they posted 255 yards on the ground.  They were paced by Nick Grummert's 121 yards rushing and one touchdown.

Doane (0-2, 0-1) struggled to get going offensively as they were limited to 205 total yards of offense.  Anthony Dunn threw for 194 yards and a touchdown but was also intercepted twice, one returned for a touchdown and the other returned to the three yard line.

The Tiger rushing game was limited to 11 total yards on 22 carries.  Jaremy Puthoff led the way with 17 net yards.

Doane receiving corps was led by Eamonn Feeney's five receptions for 60 yards.  Jeremiah Saffold collected five receptions for 50 yards and the lone Doane touchdown.

The Hastings passing game was used minimally but they were efficient as Troy Huebert completed 6-of-11 for 89 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, the Broncos were paced by Mackenzie Hemje's eight total tackles and one forced fumble.

Doane was led by Dalton Ryba's 17 total tackles, four solo.  Devin Johnson had an interception for the Tigers, the only forced turnover for Doane as they were minus-four in the turnovers.
