Tigers Top Briar Cliff

Doane College used a balanced offensive attack and a stingy defense to top Briar Cliff University 20-5 in GPAC football action.  The Tigers' victory was their third straight at home.

Doane rushed for 151 yards while throwing for 203 yards for 354 total yards.  Briar Cliff threw for 297 yards while rushing for 28.  The Chargers totaled 148 of their 325 total yards in the fourth quarter.

Leading the ground attack for the Tigers was Maurice Smith who rushed for 114 yards on 17 carries (6.7/carry).  David Wragge added 23 yards on three carries (7.7/carry).

The Tiger aerial attack was led by Antony Ritton's three receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns.  Blake Erickson added three catches for 53 yards and a touchdown.  In the air, JR Artozqui threw touchdown passes on nine completions while D'Artagnan Dai'Re threw a pass for a touchdown on a fake wide receiver toss sweep.

The defense was led by Hondo Fanning's 10 total tackles.  Josh Warren and Pat Spangler added nine tackles each.  The defense forced four turnovers while picking up four sacks.  Kedrick Kelley posted a sack and interception for the Tigers.  Seth Styskal notched a sack, a pass breakup, two quarterback hurries and forced a fumble that led to the Tigers' first touchdown of the game.  Seth Blake added a sack and fumble recovery.
