Tigers to Face Beavers at Regionals

Doane and Minot State will hook up on Wednesday afternoon in the First Round of the NAIA Region III Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM and can be heard live on the Tiger Sports Network.

The Tigers enter with a 27-15 record overall and are coming off a second place finish at the GPAC Tournament.  Doane went 7-3 last week with their only losses coming to Morningside College, twice in the GPAC Tournament.  Doane posted six wins over teams who were ranked ahead of them in the previous week's regional poll.  The strong week vaulted the Tigers from 10th to 5th in the region.

The Beavers are coming off a second place finish in the Dakota Athletic Conference Tournament.  Minot State is 27-11 overall and finished second in the conference with a 14-6 record.  They are led by DAC Player-of-the-Year Janessa Penner.  Penner had a .531 average during the regular season and posted 30 extra base hits, 11 doubles, nine triples and 10 home runs.  She also had a team-high 41 RBIs and 45 runs scored.

Doane will face either Dickinson State or Dana College in their second game of the tournament.  The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM.  All of the Tiger's games can be heard on the Tiger Sports Network.
