Tigers Split with Broncos

Doane managed a split with Hastings College on Wednesday afternoon in Crete.  The Tigers took game one, 12-5, while the Broncos won game two, 16-6 in five innings.

In game one, Kristin Schmidt and Joy Vasa combined to go 6-for-6 with three runs scored.  Pamela Masker went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.  Jennifer Montoya added a home run for Doane.  Whitney Poole and Amy Hamik added two hits each.

Vasa picked up the victory on the mound, throwing seven innings.  She improved to 4-1 on the season.

In game two, Hastings scored in each of the first four innings en route to a 10 run victory.  The Tigers rallied in the second and pulled to within two runs at 8-6 but gave up six runs in the third to fall behind 14-6.

Megan Steele took the loss, allowing eight runs in 1.2 innings.  She gave up back-to-back-to-back home runs in the second inning and was handed her first loss of the season.  She is now 4-1 on the year.  Jennifer Liddell gave up eight runs over 3.1 innings.

Six Tigers collected hits in game two.  Whitney Poole finished with two runs and an RBI while Kristin Schmidt had two RBIs for Doane.
