Tigers Spike the Lancers

The Tigers volleyball team posted two dominant games while having to fight in another while coming away with a 3-0 victory over Mt. Marty College on Saturday afternoon in Crete. The win improved the 15th-ranked Tigers' record to 14-4 on the year.

Doane blasted the Lancers in game one, winning 25-6. The margin of victory was a point shy of the single-game school record set in 2008 when Doane defeated York 25-5 in game two of that match. Ashley Axmann and Emily Max combined to have 10 kills in 10 attacks in the first game. Heather Davison had 14 assists in 16 sets.

In game two, Mt. Marty gave the Tigers plenty of troubles and had game-point, 24-23. Doane bounced back to come away with the win. Axmann posted six kills in the game while Susan Rollman added four.

Doane came back with an aggressive game three to finish off the victory. Terra Andreasen teamed up with Axmann to post three kills apiece. Doane also picked up three ace serves in the game, one apiece from Nicole Skolnick, Desiree Erikson and Amy Kreikemeier.

For the match, Doane finished with 44 kills and a .361 attack percentage. They hit .714 in game one, 16 kills in 21 attack attempts. Axmann had a game-high 14 kills in 22 attacks and a .636 attack percentage. Max was also in double figures for kills with 10. Andreasen and Rollman posted eight kills each.

Davison finished with 36 set assists in the match. Kreikemeier had a match-high two ace serves.

Defensively, Doane was nearly perfect in serve receptions as they went 42 of 43. Erikson led the team with 12 digs while Skolnick posted eight digs. At the net, Rollman had a game-high eight total blocks while Andreasen added five total blocks.

Mount Marty was led by Carlie Lambert's nine kills. Tina Rowbotham posted 23 set assists.

Doane will head to Midland on Tuesday to start a four-match road trip before returning home again.
