Tigers Open Season with Win

The Doane volleyball team, ranked No. 12 in the NAIA, opened the season with a four-set victory over Daemen College (NY) at the Grace College Invitational. The game scores were 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, and 25-19.

For the Tigers, their two returning All-Americans led the way in kills. Ashley Axmann posted 16 kills and a .364 attack percentage while Susan Rollman hit .636 while pounding out 14 kills on 22 attempts. Terra Andreasen added nine kills for Doane. The Tigers picked up 54 kills in the match.

Setting up the attacks were Desiree Erikson and Lacey Woitaszewski. Erikson recorded 23 assists while Woitaszewski added 19. Erikson also led the Tigers with three ace serves.

In the back row, Andreasen posted 17 digs while Lindsay Coffin added nine.

Emily Max dominated at the net defensively with nine total blocks, four solo.

Doane faces Bethel College (IN) to close out the first day of action.

Daemen was led by Ye Wang and Joanna Fretthold's seven kills apiece.
