Tigers Fall in Regular Season Finale

The Tiger women's basketball team closed out the 2010-11 regular season at Dordt College on Saturday. Doane fell to the Defenders, 78-53, and finished in a tie for sixth place with Dordt. Dordt takes the tie-breaker and will be the No. 6 seed in the GPAC Tournament while Doane will be the No. 7 seed.

Dordt used a 10-2 run early in the game to break a 2-all start to the game. Doane would cut the lead to six but the Defenders always had an answer. They eventually built a 16-point lead by halftime, 40-24. Dordt used second chance points to build their lead, out-scoring the Tigers, 11-0.

In the second half, Dordt's largest lead was 27 points. Neither team scored over the final two minutes of play.

Doane received 11 points from Savannah Lohmeier and five rebounds, both team highs. Nicole Skolnick added 10 points while Cheryl Braithwait had a team-high three assists.

Amber Soodsma had a game-high 19 points while Julia DeKoekkoek added 17 points and seven rebounds.

The Tigers will host Midland University on Tuesday, February 22, at 7:00 PM in the First Round of the GPAC Tournament. The winner will advance to Thursday's contest at Morningside.
