Tigers Fall at Northwestern

The Doane volleyball team suffered their first conference defeat on Saturday evening with a 3-0 loss to defending GPAC champion, Northwestern College, in Orange City, Iowa. The loss dropped the Tigers to 11-4 overall and 2-1 in GPAC play. Game scores were 25-19, 25-21 and 25-20.

Doane gave Northwestern a handful to open the match, even holding a slim lead in the latter stages of game one. However, Northwestern was able to pull away and used three straight ace serves from Kaitlin Beaver to close out the first game.

For the match, Susan Rollman paced the Tigers with 11 kills and a .393 attack percentage. Ashley Axmann added 10 kills for the Tigers and Terra Andreasen posted eight kills.

Heather Davison dished out 30 assists for Doane and added 10 digs. Nicole Skolnick led the way with 17 digs and was 21-of-21 in serve receptions.

Rollman and Andreasen led the way defensively at the net with two total blocks apiece.

The Tigers will host rival Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday, September 22, at 7:30 PM.
