The Tiger volleyball team, ranked No. 15 in the NAIA, learned on Sunday evening that they would be playing host to Trinity Christian College in the Opening Round of the NAIA National Tournament. The game will be played on Saturday, November 20, in Fuhrer Field House. The match time will likely be set on Tuesday afternoon (November 16) after both schools are able to discuss a start time.

With the impending volleyball start time, the Doane vs. Northwestern start times may be moved as well. Those games are scheduled to take place in the Haddix Center. All updated times will be posted on the Doane Athletic Web site.

Doane enters the NAIA National Tournament with a 25-6 record after earning runner-up honors in the GPAC regular season and post-season tournament. The Tigers received one of nine at-large berths. Trinity Christian enters with a 28-7 record and tied for the CCAC regular season crown and earned runner-up in the conference tournament which secured their berth to the tournament.

The two teams have one common opponent on the season, Olivet Nazarene. Doane defeated ONU in three sets at the Bellevue Classic while Trinity Christian lost at home in four sets to ONU.

The 2010 qualification will mark the ninth appearance for Doane volleyball and their third straight. Trinity Christian will be making their debut in the national tournament as they are one of 10 teams to debut.

The GPAC will send four teams to this year's national tournament. Conference champion Northwestern College received a bye after finishing the season ranked No. 4 while going undefeated, 35-0. Briar Cliff University earned the host berth and receives a bye to the final site with a 20-14 record. Dordt will host St. Ambrose in the Opening Round on November 20 after earning an at-large berth with a No. 17 ranking.
