Tigers End Season with Win
Doane wrapped up their season on Tuesday afternoon with a split versus Concordia University. The Tigers dropped game one, 7-6, before rebounding for a 9-2 win in game two.
Game One (Concordia 7-6)
The Tigers spotted Concordia a 6-2 lead through four innings and fell just short in the late innings rally. Doane plated three runs in the sixth inning but left two runners on base. They were kept off the bases in the seventh inning.
Three Tigers notched two-hit games, Stephanie Mosley, Amber Remmers and Pamela Masker. Alyssa Ledon led the Tigers with two RBIs off a single in the sixth inning. Doane out-hit the Bulldogs 12-10 but were plagued by five errors that led to four unearned runs.
Joy Vasa took the loss as she went four innings, allowing five hits and six runs, three earned. She walked two and struck out three. Sloane Beckler closed out the game allowing one run on five hits.
Game Two (Doane 9-2)
Megan Steele limited the Bulldogs to four hits over seven innings and struck out three in the complete game victory. The win moved Steele to 11 wins on the season.
Skyler Rowe paced Doane with three hits while Whitney Poole, Mosley, Masker and Ledon added two a piece. Masker had the big hit of the game, smashing a three-run home run in the fifth inning. She ended the game with four RBIs. Rowe and Beckler added two RBIs a piece.
For the game, Doane had 13 hits and only struck out once, something that has plagued the Tigers this year.
Stephanie Mosley ended the season on a 16-game hit streak. The streak will carry over into the start of the 2008 softball season... The Tigers finished the season at 22-22 overall
The Tigers bid farewell to long time coach, Don Miller. Miller will take over the head coaching duties at Lincoln High School next year. Miller has been involved with the Tiger softball program for many years and will be missed. A special thank you goes out to Coach Miller.
