Tigers Drop First Match of Year

Playing back-to-back matches for the second straight day caught up to the Tigers on Friday afternoon as they fell in four sets to Indiana University-East in the championship match of the Grace College Invitational. IUE, receiving votes in the national poll, played earlier in the day and had approximately two hours off while Doane had to play immediately following a match-up with Shawnee State. The final scores were 25-14, 21-25, 25-21 and 25-23 in favor of IUE.

Doane received 18 kills from Ashley Axmann and 15 from Susan Rollman. Doane finished with 60 kills as a squad.

Desiree Erikson dished out 29 assists while Lacey Woitaszewski added 27 in the match. Woitaszewski had the Tigers' two ace serves in the match.

Defensively, Lindsay Coffin posted 19 digs while Terra Andreasen added 17. Rollman led the Tigers with four total blocks.

Paige Lay led Indiana-East with 16 kills and Sarah Shilling added 15 kills.

Doane will return to action on Friday, August 26, at the Red Raider Classic in Orange City, Iowa.
