Tigers Drop Conference Opener
The Tiger men's tennis team dropped their conference opener to Concordia University, 7-2, on Tuesday afternoon in Crete. Doane had a couple of close matches that could have changed the out-come if they could have picked up points when they needed them.
In singles action, Josh Siske picked up the lone win at No. 1 singles. He defeated Jon Schleicher in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Jace Crist made an impressive comeback before falling to Marcus Herring. Crist dropped game one, 6-1, but rallied and held on for a 6-4 victory in game two. He dropped the tie-breaker, 10-7. Jake Zlatkovsky also rallied from behind but dropped his match at No. 6 singles. Zlatkovsky lost 6-2 in game one, won game two, 7-5, and dropped the tie-breaker, 10-8. Adam Fye, Sam Acker and Nolan DeWispelare dropped their matches in straight sets.
In doubles action, Siske and Acker teamed up to defeat Kyle Winter and Travis Sherman, 8-4, in No. 2 doubles. DeWispelare and Zlatkovsky fell 8-6 to Tim Meyer and Scott Schlesinger at No. 3 doubles. Crist and Fye fell 8-3 in No. 1 doubles.
