Tigers Drilled by No. 19 Mt. Marty

Fire and ice could pretty much describe the Tiger women's basketball game on Wednesday evening in Yankton, S.D. The 19th-ranked Mt. Marty squad was on fire throughout the game while Doane was ice cold, especially in the first half. The Lancers topped the Tigers 83-43 behind 11 three-point baskets and 54.7-percent shooting.

The first half saw Mt. Marty hit 8-of-10 three-point attempts while Doane hit 6-of-30 shots from the field. The result was a 51-15 deficit for the Tigers at the break.

Doane came out in the second half and scored on their first two possessions. However, the Lancers scored on their first five possessions of the second half. The Lancers largest lead was 51 points, achieved midway through the second half.

Doane was led in scoring by Kristine Ortmeier as she finished with 14 points and a team-high five rebounds. Nicole Starns added five rebounds also and Natalie Korus posted four.

The Tigers will face Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday, December 11, in Lincoln.
