Tigers Compete at UNL Holiday Inn Invite
The Tiger Track and Field team took on opponents ranging from NCAA D1 through Junior Colleges on Friday and Saturday as they competed at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Holiday Inn Invitational.
In women's track action, Blair Dixon finished seventh in the 400m dash with a NAIA provisional qualifying mark of 59.88. Allison Hartnett posted a time of 1:28.80 in the 600 yd run, an automatic time for the 600m run at the NAIA meet. Jillian Ourada posted a provisional mark in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.29. The women's 4x400m relay team of Ourada, Hartnett, Dixon and Jessica Steinkamp finished with a provisional time of 4:03.01.
In the women's field events, Leah Petersen won the unseeded pole vault with a mark of 3.45m (11-03.75). Her mark is a provisional NAIA mark. In the weight throw, Whitney Collins finished eighth with an automatic qualifying mark of 16.28m (53-05.00).
On the men's track events side of the meet, Ben McCaleb posted a provisional mark in the 60m dash with a time of 6.94 in the prelims. He tied for ninth overall after a time of 6.98 in the finals. McCaleb also had a provisional mark in the 200m dash as he finished sixth with a time of 22.36. Edwin Ronoh took second in the 600 yd run and posted a provisional mark for the 600m run at nationals with a time of 1:13.25. In the 1000m run, Ronoh placed sixth with an automatic qualifying mark of 2:31.00. Ronoh also ran a leg of the 4x400m relay team that hit a provisional mark of 3:22.10. Others running on the relay team were Vince Martinez, Caleb Hock and Leo Arroyo.
In field events, Nate Teten won the unseeded pole vault with a mark of 4.55m (14-11.00). Jacob Clouse hit a provisional mark in the weight throw with a toss of 16.55m (54-03.75).
