Tigers Claim GPAC Honors

The GPAC released their first honors of the year in track and field with Doane coming away with a sweep of the athletes-of-the-week honors.

Jenna Temme was named female co-field athlete-of-the-week.  Temme, a freshman from Petersburg, placed first in the unseeded high jump and 11th in the seeded high jump at the UNL Holiday Inn Invite.  Her mark of 5-5 in the unseeded high jump meets the automatic qualifying standard for the NAIA National Meet.

Ellie Windle earned female track athlete-of-the-week honors.  Windle, a senior from Nebraska City, placed first in the 800 meters and third in the 4x400 meter relay.  She finished first among 19 runners with a time of 2:19.46.  In the 4x400 meter relay, the Doane team ran a time of 3:59.86.  Both times meet the NAIA automatic qualifying standard for the NAIA National Meet. 

Tom Martin was named male field athlete-of-the-week.  Martin, a senior from Pierce, placed seventh in the triple jump.  His measurement was 45-04.25.

Paulvince Obuon has been named the male track athlete-of-the-week.  Obuon, a junior from Kisumu, Kenya, placed second in the 60 meters and first in the 200 meters.  He posted the fastest time in the prelims and semifinals of the 60 before taking second with a time of 0:06.72.  In the 200, he set the Doane school record with a mark of 0:21.56.
