Tiger Track Opens Outdoor Season

Doane opened the outdoor track and field season with a strong showing at the Hastings College Invite on Saturday afternoon.  The Tigers had to battle cool temperatures and windy conditions on their way to winning 20 events.

In women's action, Regan Carlstrom ran an NAIA automatic qualifying time in the 100m dash with a time of 12.23.  She also came away with a victory in the 200m dash.  Erin Fogarty picked up victories in the 100m and 400m hurdles.  She ran an automatic qualifying time in the 100m hurdles with a mark of 14.93.

The Tiger 4x400m relay team was victorious with a time of 4:09.59.  The team consisted of Carlstrom, DeeJay Silcott, Haley Bergstrom and Amanda Kermoade.

In field events, Katie Bartels and Gretchen Clark hit NAIA provisional marks in the high jump with leaps of 5-04.  Meagan Bauer hit a provisional mark in the pole vault with a vault of 11-01.75.  Abby Schlueter came away with two victories, winning the long jump with a leap of 17-07.25 and the triple jump with a mark of 38-07.75.  Schlueter's mark in the triple jump is an automatic qualifying mark.  Tawny Fye hit a provisional mark in the discus with a throw of 136-00.  Kari Hochstein won the javelin with a throw of 119-02.50.

Men's action saw D'Artagnan Dai'Re win the 100m and 200m dashes.  Lance Foster won the 400m dash with a provisional qualifying mark of 48.89.  Sufian Kimo won the 10K in a time of 33:25.37.

The Tiger relay teams came away with victories.  The 4x100m team of Jess Wimmer, Dai'Re, Maurice Smith and Kedrick Kelley ran a time of 42.59.  The 4x400m team of Foster, Wimmer, Cody Ingold and Greg Torres ran a time of 3:23.12.

In field events, Scott Neuhalfen reached a provisional mark in the high jump with a leap of 6-06 as he won the event.  Maurice Smith won the long jump with a provisional mark of 22-11.25.  Trenton Volkmer finished second in the long jump with a provisional mark of 22-09.25.  Nick Thixton jumped 46-02.75 in the triple jump, a provisional mark.  Mike Tierney hit an automatic mark in the shot put with a throw of 51-09.  Jared Schuurmans hit a provisional mark in the shot put with a throw of 50-09 and the hammer throw with a toss of 162-10.  Schuurmans hit an automatic mark in the discus with a throw of 159-08.

Highlighting the meet was Adam Burmood's javelin performance.  He won the event by 29 feet as he threw a personal best 205-04.
