Tiger Season Comes to a Close

Doane men's basketball season came to an end on Tuesday evening in Yankton, S.D., as the Tigers fell to Mt. Marty College, 77-55. The Tigers end the season at 13-15.

After an early 8-4 lead by the Lancers, the Tigers went on a 13-4 run to build a 17-12 lead. During the run, Jake Johnson accounted for six of the Doane points. The Lancers, however, responded with an 8-0 run to take a three-point lead. Doane kept the Lancer lead within three points and trailed at the half, 28-26.

In the second half, Mount Marty went 23-of-33 from the floor, shooting 69.7-percent. They opened the half with a 10-0 run and built a 20-point lead midway through the second half.

For the game, Joshua Riser led the Tigers with 12 points off the bench. Jake Johnson added 10 for Doane. Nick Reed had a game-high 10 rebounds while Taylor Oltjenbruns had a team-best three assists and four steals.

Mount Marty had four players in double-figures, led by Jared Wall's 14 points. Stephen Klekas and Weston Kusser had 12 apiece. Spencer Yackley posted 10 points and nine rebounds.

Doane will graduate four seniors from this year's squad: Johnson, Oltjenbruns, Trent Schlautman and Tyler Weatherholt.
