Students Earn Golden Leaf Media Awards

Doane College students were honored with Golden Leaf Awards during the 2009 Nebraska Collegiate Media Association award ceremony.

KDNE, Doane's over-the-air radio station, earned 13 awards.  Senior Ziad Jaber won first place in the promotional series category.

The Doaneline, the student news Web site, garnered eight awards, including first place in Arts and Entertainment coverage.

DCTV - Doane College Television - won seven awards, including two first-place honors, by sophomore Dusty Dales in the Entertainment Game/Talk Show category and Mike Cochnar in Short Film.

The Doane Owl, the student newspaper, won two first-place awards, by junior Tatton Jacob in Layout and Design and junior Bob Kenny in the Headlines category.

The Doaneline placed second in Web site of the year while the rest of the Doane student media finished third in their respective media-of-the-year competitions.

Nine Nebraska colleges were represented in the Golden Leaf competition. Entries were judged by a variety of industry professionals and collegiate media instructors.
