Strecker Named GPAC Player-of-the-Week

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following men's soccer players-of-the-week for October 13 - October 19, 2008.  Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2008-2009 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Soccer Players-of-the-Week

Men's Offense- Devon Strecker, Doane - Forward
Doane forward Devon Strecker is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week.  Strecker, a freshman from Omaha, Nebraska, scored a hat trick in the Tigers 5-2 win at Dakota Wesleyan last week.  He is second in the league in goals scored with 11 on the season (Jordan Green from Nebraska Wesleyan has 13).  The win improved Doane's record to 9-6 this fall.

Men's Defense- Tyler Sytsma, Northwestern - Defender
Northwestern defender Tyler Sytsma is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week.  Sytsma, a junior from Littleton, Colorado, helped the Red Raider defense post two shutouts on the week with wins over Mount Marty and Concordia.  The Northwestern defense allowed seven shots on goal and 16 total shots last week.  The Red Raiders are now 7-7-1 on the season.
