Six Earn All-Conference Honors, One Gold Glove Award

Six Tiger baseball players were named to this year's GPAC All-Conference teams.  Mike Mendenhall was named to the First Team while Adam Bies, Bryan Dutcher, Tim Engelhaupt, Thomas Frinkman and Chris Williams were named honorable mention.  The Tigers also had their first-ever Gold Glove selection in Dean Henson.

The Tigers finished the year 22-28 under first year Head Coach Jeremy Jorgensen and tied for eighth in the GPAC.  Below is a recap of each player's 2008 season.

Bies (Aurora, Colo.) led the team with eight doubles on the season.  He batted .348 in his freshman campaign with a .460 on-base percentage.

Dutcher (Greeley, Neb.) had a rough season overall on the mound, posting a 5.73 earned run average (ERA) and 4-6 record.  However, in conference play he had a 2.52 ERA with a 3-3 record and four complete games.

Engelhaupt (Hemingford, Neb.) led the team with 39 RBIs on the season while hitting .295.  He also tied for the team lead in doubles (8) and home runs (3).

Frinkman (Albuquerque, N.M.) hit .344 for the Tigers and had a team-high eight sacrifices (bunts and flys).  He recorded seven doubles and was solid defensively with 70 putouts and 76 assists.

Henson (Cheyenne, Wyo.) was perfect defensively in left field which allowed him to earn a Gold Glove Award.  He had 60 putouts with six outfield assists and did not commit an error.

Mendenhall (Laramie, Wyo.) led the team in most offensive categories.  He batted .429 with 40 runs scored, four triples, three home runs and 12 stolen bases.

Williams (Greeley, Neb.) batted .345 and drew a team-high 21 walks.  He had nine extra base hits and a .985 fielding percentage.
