New Americans' Camp - Summer 2006

Doane College is pleased to offer a special summer experience for high school sophomores and juniors (Fall of 2006) whose parents have recently emigrated to the United States. It's free for all students, thanks to a generous grant from Farmland Foods of Crete.

Lodging in the Doane residence halls and all meals are included. Transportation to Doane's Crete campus will be provided by the college as needed.

Doane College students who are new Americans serve as mentors for the program. The student sessions of the camp are conducted in English. Students must be nominated by their high school guidance counselor. The deadline to return the application forms is May 10, 2006.

Students and their guidance counselors will be notified by May 12 of their acceptance. Approximately 25 students will be accepted to this summer experience. At least one parent must come to the Crete campus by 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3 to take part in a short program for parents.
