McPherson Top Doane at Hastings Classic

McPherson College used hot shooting and forced 20 Doane turnovers as the Tigers fell 90-48 in men's basketball action at the Hastings Classic on Friday afternoon.  McPherson shot 58-percent from the floor while Doane was limited to 37-percent for the game.

The Bulldogs built a 22 point lead in the first half but shot better in the second half of play.  Doane also shot better in the second half but struggled from behind the arc where they hit 3-of-20 attempts from three-point range.

Doane was paced by Bryan Meyer's 10 points and four rebounds.  Jens Scholl and Tyler Weatherholt added nine points apiece.  Scholl and Trent Schlautman matched Meyer with four rebounds apiece to lead the team.  Brett Jorgenson had a team-high two assists.

McPherson was led by five players in double figures.  Marion Dominique, Charles Moore and Dwayne Thomas each add 11 points apiece to lead the way.

Doane will take on Bethany College in the second day of the Hastings Classic on Saturday.
