Lindsley Sets School Record in Discus

The men's track and field outdoor season opened on March 29 in Hastings at the Bronco Relays. Doane was one of three teams to take part in the meet this year.

On the track, Doane won four events but it was the field events that took center stage in the first outing of the outdoor campaign. Tiger throwers hit six NAIA automatic qualifying marks and two provisional marks.

Zack Lindsley '13 had a big day, winning two events and setting a school record. Lindsley won the discus with a throw of 193-02, a NAIA automatic mark, breaking the mark of Jared Schuurmans. He also won the shot put with a throw of 57-09.75, also a NAIA "A" qualifying mark. Lindsley took second in the hammer throw with a "B" standard mark of 172-06.

Kyle Bartlett added an "A" standard mark in the shot put with a throw of 51-09.25. Vince Krejci posted a "B" mark in the shot put with a tos of 50-09.50.

Krejci hit the "A" standard in the discus with a toss of 159-04. Dillon Carmichael and Darin Smith also had "A" qualifying marks with throws of 162-04 and 161-06, respectively.

Doane will host Nebraska Wesleyan on April 5 in their annual dual. The two teams will start at 3:00 pm with the javelin.
