Lincoln Artist' Work Featured in Rall Gallery

Works by Doane alumna and Lincoln artist Vonni Sparks are featured this month in Rall Gallery.

Sparks is a participating artist in Lincoln's Gallery 9.

Longtime Doane art professor Richard Terrell describes Sparks' work as "fanciful, playful and haunting." The Rall exhibit includes numerous acrylic pieces, each conveying Sparks' distinctive whimsy.

It is her first exhibit at the college where she earned a degree in theatre in 1988.

"It's really a great feeling at this point in my life to come back - a completely different person - and do this exhibit. It's a weird, happy feeling to have these works that I love be at this place that I loved," she said.

The exhibit is on display in the gallery located in the lower level of the Communications Center. It is included in the college's Homecoming celebration Oct. 6-8.

Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. - 11 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 2-11 p.m.
