Lawrence Continues to Run this Summer

Doane College sophomore BJ Lawrence participated in the National Invitation and Club Championship in St. Kitts-Nevis on Sunday and represented well in the nations championship meet.

Lawrence, a five-event All-American and three-event national champion for the Tigers this past year, claimed the 200m dash title in a time of 20.70. In the 100m dash, he placed fifth with a time of 10.34. He ran the anchor leg of the St. Kitts-Nevis 4x100m relay team that posted a time of 39.57 to finish second.

"It was not my best but I was satisfied with my efforts in my first races of the summer," Lawrence commented. He also noted that it was really hot down in the Caribbean.

His next meet will be this upcoming weekend as the 4x100m relay team will run at the Bahamas National Invitational. They are hoping to hit a mark of 39.20 which would qualify them for the World Championships.
