Fye Named State College Coach Of The Year

Ed Fye, head coach of the Doane College track and field program, was honored as the Journal Star State College Coach of the Year.

This year, the Tiger men ran away with the GPAC title and the women tied Concordia for the crown. The Doane men then finished seventh at the NAIA Indoor Championships and 11th at the national outdoor meet.

In his career, Fye has coached 251 All-Americans, 20 national champions, three ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-Americans and 88 scholar-athletes. The Doane women have won 20 of the last 21 league outdoor titles and the men have won the last seven GPAC titles.

Fye, who himself earned All-America honors in track for Doane, has been head coach of the program for nine years.
