CRETE -- Follett Corporation, the largest campus retailer in North America, recently announced that the Doane University Campus Bookstore has transitioned to Follett Higher Education Group management, bringing new products, savings, and support for campus store customers. Doane selected Follett as the campus retail partner with the best resources, technology, and product selection to support the unique needs of the campus community.

With this new partnership, Doane University students and faculty will have access to Follett's expansive inventory of affordable course material choices. Cost-saving print options include used books, as well as Follett’s text rental program that saves students up to 80 percent compared to purchasing new. Follett also delivers a varied selection of digital learning technologies that help promote anywhere, anytime access to needed materials. New store services include Follett’s year-round buyback program and price match, which helps ensure students get their materials at the lowest cost possible.

Beyond course materials, Follett will refresh general merchandise offerings to be a one-stop shop for class and campus life essentials. The Doane University Campus Bookstore on the Crete campus will offer a custom merchandise assortment of Doane University and Doane athletic gear, school supplies, and other Doane-related items. The full breadth of Follett’s products and services can be explored both in-store and online.

Under new management with Follet, merchandise will continue to align with the Doane University mission. The campus bookstore will sell course materials, Doane clothing & gifts, school supplies, and more.

“After many years of serving faculty, staff, students and alumni well with exclusively brick-and-mortar bookstores, the market has shifted,” said Julie Schmidt, Vice President of Finance and Administration at Doane. “We are finding that more students are ordering their books and services online, which is no surprise given the increasing national trend in consumers purchasing products online compared to on location. The time has come for Doane to partner with an experienced retail organization that is better positioned to address the needs of the future.”

Doane’s Crete campus will maintain its physical bookstore location, offering textbooks, supplies, and Doane gear for sale. Follet is hiring a bookstore manager for the Crete campus; interested applicants can apply here.

The Lincoln campus bookstore will no longer exist, as students will be able to purchase their textbooks conveniently online. Doane students on the Omaha and Grand Island campuses, as well as online students, will be able to purchase all of their necessary course materials through the online bookstore as well.
