Exstrom Scores Twice to Lift Doane

The Tiger women's soccer team found themselves in a tough battle on Tuesday evening at York College but in the end, a strong second half propelled the Tigers to a 4-1 victory. Doane improves to 3-1-1 on the year as they begin conference play on Saturday at Dakota Wesleyan, the defending GPAC champions.

York College scored the only goal of the first half and out-shot the Tigers 10-8. Carrie Berzins posted the Panther goal in the 35th minute.

Doane came back with a dominant second half as they out-shot York, 27-4. Doane posted four goals in a 33 minute span.

Samantha Exstrom tied the game for the Tigers with a goal in the 53rd minute. Assists were credited to Sarah Medina and Mia Juarez. Exstrom broke the tie 11 minutes later with an unassisted goal.

Chelsea Reed added to the Tiger lead with her first goal of the season off an Exstrom assist. Courtney Richards added her first goal on the year to cap the Doane scoring.

Kelsey Stark finished the game with 10 saves for the Tigers while her counterpart, Jordan Veness, posted 16 saves.
