Domestic Violence Awareness Displays at Doane

As part of Domestic Violence Month, Doane College will host displays honoring victims of domestic violence and raising awareness of the frequency of domestic violence.

Working with Hope Crisis Center, the displays include life-sized, red cut-outs representing women and children killed and families divided by domestic violence. The displays can be viewed in the upper level of Doane's Perry Campus Center Oct. 28-30.

The cut-outs are part of the Silent Witness Initiative that commemorates domestic violence victims. The life-sized wooden figures bear the name of victims whose life ended at the hands of a spouse, partner, family member or acquaintance.

Hope Crisis Center is a local domestic violence agency providing support, services and safety to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Gage, Saline, York, Seward, Fillmore, Jefferson and Thayer counties. The non-profit agency is one of 22 programs in Nebraska, and is affiliated with the Nebraska Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Coalition.
