Doane Tops Midland, 3-1

The Doane men's soccer team improved to 2-0 in GPAC play on Tuesday evening with a 3-1 victory over Midland Lutheran College. The Tigers also extended their current win streak to four games.

Doane scored twice in the latter stages of the first half to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Devon Strecker scored the first goal of the game, getting a shot off while falling to the ground. Andrew Moore picked up the assist. Three minutes later, Tom Heavey scored on an unassisted goal.

To open the second half, Monday Akogwu scored just 49 seconds in to the half to put the Tigers up three goals. Heavey picked up an assist for the Tigers. The lone Warrior goal was put in by the Tigers on a corner kick, going down as an own goal.

Doane out-shot Midland, 16-10, for the game. Matt Bickley had three saves for the Tigers.
