Doane to Host Movie Premiere of The 60 Yard Line, Directed by Alumnus Leif Gantvoort

Actor, director, and Doane University alum Leif Gantvoort ’94 will premiere his new film to the state of Nebraska, The 60 Yard Line, at the Isis Theatre in Crete on Thursday, October 5th at 7:00 PM. Gantvoort’s return to campus will be a highlight of Homecoming festivities throughout the week (Oct. 1 - Oct. 8) at Doane.

The 60 Yard Line is a feature film based on a true story, centering around Packer fan Ben Zagowski (Ryan Churchill) and his best friend, Bears fan Nick Polano (Nick Greco), who buy a house in the parking lot of Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers. The house, nicknamed “The 60 Yard Line,” creates tension between ‘Zagger’ and his longtime fiancé, Amy Etzman (Kim Crossman). The film is set during the 2009 NFL season, when Packers legend Brett Favre left Green Bay to play for the Minnesota Vikings.

The movie features former Green Bay Packers Ahman Green, John Kuhn, Mark Tauscher, Michael Montgomery, and Gary Ellerson. UFC Hall of Fame fighter Chuck Liddell, Cedric Yarbrough (Reno 911), and Mindy Sterling (Austin Powers) also make special appearances.

Gantvoort is most recognized for his roles in The Amazing Spider-Man and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2. He has guest starred on numerous television shows, including Chicago P.D., CSI, Bones, and Shooter.

Media members are also welcome to attend a Q&A session with Gantvoort, “Lunch with Leif: From Doane to Hollywood,” at Doane University’s Dining Hall in Perry Campus Center from 12:00-1:00 PM on Thursday, October 5th.
