Doane Tenth at GPAC Championship

Tuesday morning marked the opening round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship Women's Golf Tournament.  Four rounds will be played over the academic year, two during the fall and the other two in the spring.

Sioux Falls was the host for the first day of golf with the meet held at Elmwood Golf Course.  The par 72 course covered 5,920 yards.

The Tiger women posted a team score of 400 in the first meet and currently sit 10th in the tournament.  Doane trails the leader, Dakota Wesleyan, by 80 strokes after DWU shot a team score of 320.

For Doane, Brittany Sampy posted a round of 93 and is tied for 30th overall.  She was consistent on both the front and back nine holes, posting a 46 and a 47 and notched three pars during her round.

Abby Hahn is tied for 43rd after shooting a 99 (47-52).  Hahn had a team-high four pars on the day.

Melisa Dalton and Rachel Ryan are tied for 48th after shooting rounds of 104.  Dalton posted marks of 51 and 53 on the front and back, respectively, while Ryan shot a 53 and a 51.  Each player recorded three pars.

Andrea Rosh rounded out the Tiger golfers with a 121 (56-65) and currently sits 53rd overall.  She finished the round with two pars.

Michaela Carew of Briar Cliff is the first round leaders in the individual race after posting a 74, two strokes over par.  Dana's Alex Curry had the highlight of the day, scoring the only eagle in the first round of play.
